“Who are you?”

Great question! Hi. I’m Caitlin. That’s me in the fancy pants garb on the left (although normally I’m more of a cargo pants kid of gal). Like most folks, I contain multitudes — I love learning new stuff, drinking craft beer, and (weirdly) airplanes… a story for another time.

I’m also a grammar-obsessed, punctuation-propelled copyeditor from way back. I spent high school lunchtimes slumped against library shelves, helping my friends proofread their papers for English class. During my Literature and Writing undergrad, I took red pen to paper marking up drafts on the train ride to university, before writing a whole tertiary unit on academic communication during my Masters in Theology (again see fancy pants garb on the left).

I’ve tutored countless students in how to powerfully place semicolons, wield syntax like stage choreography, and trade diving the rabbit holes of research for divining the answers to assessment questions. I’ve helped professors and PhDs over deadlines to save them from losing their minds, and can magically disappear dozens of words from bloated paragraphs without losing an ounce of oomph.

I’ve written stuff in my own right, too… conference papers, book reviews, blogs, opinion pieces, and some forthcoming chapters and articles (watch this space). I practise what I preach, and I want to help you — yes, you! — to do the same.

(Psst. If you’ve made it this far … I’ve got a nifty lil’ newsletter with quick writing tips and ways we can work together. Sign up on your right!)

Enough talk.

Let’s write! (and edit!)
